Cheese Notes

We bring you news about two new cheeses from our neighbours in Wales. Both of these cheese are available to purchase instore & online

Yr Afr
Last year we were introduced to Bradley and Beth Cunningham, who produce Yr Afr (translates to “The Goat”). Hailing originally from Lancashire, the two now call North Bethesda home. They work with a few local herds for their raw goat’s milk. The cheese is unique in that it leans into a bigger, much more rustic profile; similar to some of the French heavyweights. One for those prefer their cheese with a little bit of attitude.

Soft Joyce
To counterbalance, we give you this little number from Harriet Cooke and FFynnon Wen Farm in Capel Isaac. While East Friesian sheep primarily make up the herd, the native Lleyn sheep, of North Wales, have slowly been integrated. Delicate and open, this cheese arrives to us at a perfect time of year. While a cider wash brings character to the rind, Soft Joyce remains a perfect intro to any board. Sunny days ahead.
