Product information:

It's time to dust off the kilt and get ready for Burns Night celebrations on 25 January.

Every January, Scots, along with everyone else partial to haggis and whisky, take time out to honour Scotland's favourite son, champion of the common people & national icon, with a feast of Haggis, Neeps and tatties.

Our Scottish cheeseboard celebrates varieties from Inverness, Isle of Mull and Carnwath South Lanarkshire, The iron rich soil of Scotland, with weather patterns that can be harsh, and a penchant for turnips in the animal feed all contribute to strident tastes, but also rich creaminess too. Dare I say a tot or two of whisky opened up with a splash of water would be the drink of choice? Whether the soft sweetness of single malt to the strong almost medicinal peaty styles, they will be the partner to this cheeseboard.

CHEESES

  • Elrick Log | Lanarkshire. Unpasteurised Goat's Milk. 1 unit - Named after the nearby village of Esrickle, this goat's cheese has a wonderful creaminess, that is both rich and herbaceous with a salty tang to the end taste.
  • Baby Clava  | Inverness, Pasteurised Cow's Milk - I unit (250g). The Clava is rich, creamy & vegetal in the Brie style, with a bloomy white rind. The curds are hand-ladled & the ripening process is carefully monitored to ensure the cheese retains its rich melting texture.
  • Corra Linn |  Lanarkshire, Unpasteurised Ewe's Milk (200g).  This cheese has been created in the style of Manchego. Named after the highest waterfall in the picturesque Clyde Falls, the unique vegetal flavours come through with a hint of earthy sweetness redolent of wild strawberries. A natural affinity to single malt whisky.
  • Isle of Mull Cheddar | Isle of Mull, Unpasteurised Cow's Milk (200g) - The weather plays a big part in the taste of this cheddar. Exposed to the elements of the Atlantic, the salty briny flavours are very evident, as well as the mashed barley used in the whisky-making from the local distillery.
  • Lanark Blue | Lanarkshire, Unpasteurised Sheep's Milk (200g) - Humphrey Errington’s powerful blue cheese is not for the faint hearted, but then not many cheeses would be a worthy partner to whisky. The sharp acidity & meaty vegetal flavours are truly Scottish in every way, & this cheese is best eaten right at the end of the meal as its flavours are quite overpowering.
