Join us at LA FROMAGERIE Marylebone for a very special tasting event of Sake paired with artisan cheese. The evening will be hosted by senior LA FROMAGERIE Cheesemongers Max and Josh along with Erika Haigh, international kikisake-shi sommelier (SSI) and founder of KAMOSU, a new platform that showcases premium and artisan sake & Japanese drinks.
Erika will showcase 6 exceptional Sakes as we explore pairings from Burrata with fresh Wasabi to Soumaintrain washed in Sake. Whilst it may seem unusual, we have been exploring cheese with sake as far back as 2008 when Patricia met a cheesemaker in Treviso who had washed a cheese with sake in the way cheeses are washed in brine, wine & marc. Sake is an excellent food pairing as the base is rooted in an umami depth of flavour because it is made from rice. Traditionally in the UK our understanding of umami and sake extends exclusively to Japanese cuisine, however for this event, through Erika’s in depth understanding of wine and sake, we will be explore what sake brings to the flavours of France, Italy and the British Isles.
About Erika…Born and raised in Japan, Erika now lives in London and is a renowned Sake expert and educator, dedicated to the intricacies of Japanese drinking culture. She is also co-owner of MOTO the UK’s first independent Japanese Sake Bar.
