Our cheesemongers have created a wonderful selection of Spring cheeses for you to enjoy. Our Virtual Tasting Board includes a recording which will be emailed to you, where our senior cheesemonger, Max Melvin, talks you through the cheeses you are eating. Lots of our customers like to buy this and watch it with friends, making a wonderful evening of eating and learning about the cheeses together. Max is a wonderful presenter!

The Cheese Board will contain:

  • 5 x 80g (approx.) of Farmhouse Cheeses (unless small individual unit)
  • Packet of Cheese Biscuits
  • Set of Tasting Notes

CHEESES

  • Bonde de Gatine | Poitou-Charentes, Unpasteurised Goat's Milk - 1 unit (180g).  A bonde is an old fashioned cork, traditionally used to seal barrels of wine, which accounts for this cheese's unique drum shape and subsequent naming. Ash-coated with a wrinkled rind, the interior pate is deliciously smooth and rich, bursting with a light, fruity, and earthy tang.
  • Stonebeck | Nidderdale, North Yorkshire, Unpasteurised Cow's Milk (80g). It has taken over 2 years to bring this cheese to more than the immediate local shops, and the Northern Dairy Shorthorn cattle produce a wonderfully fresh and grassy tasting cheese. Very limited supply but worth every bite.
  • Lou Larzac | Aveyron, Thermised Cow's Milk (80g). In the style of other sheep's milk cheese of the region: creamy, with a slightly running pate, and a supple, bloomy rind. Delicate, smooth and earthy when young, with the rind should just barely hold the cheese intact. With age it becomes firmer and more complex and takes on a much gamier flavour.
  • Haut Barry | Larzac, Unpasteurised Ewe's Milk (80g) . The taste has a gently earthy sweetness, quite sophisticated, redolent of the milk, with a fresh hazelnut bite. A delicious end of meal cheese. Allergens: contains EGG
  • Gorgonzola Naturale | Lombardy, Cow, Pasteurised (80g) | Two layered traditional curd, using both the morning & evening milk which is ladled in layers into the cheese mould. The taste is rich, fruity & sappy with earthy aromas.
