It's BBQ season so we have chosen the perfect cheese selection to melt over a burger or make the ultimate grilled cheese sandwich. And we have even included our La Fromagerie homemade Tomato Ketchup.

CHEESE

  • Ashcombe - Chedworth, Pasteurised Cow's Milk, 200g. Winner of the Artisan Cheese Awards Best in Show cheese plus best New Cheese, this looks like a traditional alpine Morbier cheese with the familiar ash strip through the middle of the cheese.  The crust has been washed in a brine to give a magical bacterial element with its complex aromas and ombre hue.  The taste is nutty and fruity in the alpine style, and will melt as well as being a good table cheese.
  • Fontina - Aosta, Unpasteurised Cow's Milk. 200g. Produced in the Italian Alps since the 12th century, this is a classic farmhouse-made cheese, full-flavoured, from unpasteurised milk. Its texture is semi-hard in the Gruyere-style – good for fondues and cooking, but equally at home as part of a cheeseboard selection. Flavours are nutty and woody, with an almost mushroomy quality with a little age.
  • Bleu d'Auvergne - Auvergne, Pasteurised Cow's Milk. 200g. This is normally viewed as a simple-style cheese, yet with a little love and care (affinage) it becomes a rich, strong tasting cheese with a velvety texture. The moist, nutty flavour and beautiful melting quality of the cheese also makes it a perfect medium for cooking, crumbling over salads and steaks and vegetable dishes or stuffing into poultry.
